My commitment is to come prepared to every session and work with you to create a safe space for you to be yourself.

ABOUT YOU
You are looking to get past a challenge(s) in your life that is/are holding you back in some way from living your ideal life – life the way you would like to live it. You are looking to acquire tools and/or develop new habits that keep you moving in the direction you want to be headed.
Here are some of the situations you might be wanting to work through to get to that CLEAR MOMENT in your life:
- Grief
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Trauma
- Life change
- End-of-life-care issues
- Self Esteem issues
- Affirming your sexual orientation
- Boundary setting
- Domestic Abuse
HOW DOES PSYCHOTHERAPY WORK?
Every time we sort through our life challenges, we get the perspective to look at things in a clearer way. And with that clarity comes the way to follow through on a life-plan we feel is best. My role is to create a safe space where you move from being blocked in some way to feeling free – a CLEAR MOMENT – where you find the path forward to act in a positive way.
There are lots of metaphors for this – Calming a storm, having the fog lift, seeing the forest from the trees, becoming unstuck or unblocked, to name a few. Do you have one that describes your situation?
Every situation is different. Part of therapy is to discuss your expectations and needs in a first meeting. Together, we, explore what may be possible. And then you decide from there.
HERE ARE THE APPROACHES THAT I USE
- Acceptance and Commitment therapy
- Cognitive behavioural therapy
- Narrative therapy
- Strength based therapy
- Solutions focused brief therapy
- Attachment Theory
- Transaction Analysis
Trying to figure out these approaches can be overwhelming at first. Please know that this is normal and in a first meeting, we will discuss what might work best for you. We won’t move forward until things are clear enough for you to feel safe and comfortable.
WHAT IF YOU’RE NOT SURE OR HAVE QUESTIONS?
I hear this question a lot. Despite all the “it’s okay to not be okay” talk, talking about our mental wellness can be, well, hard to talk about.
There should never be any shame in acknowledging that you don’t like your current situation – that you’d like to improve it. I often say psychotherapy is like physio-therapy, but for the mind and soul. Would we judge someone who was getting physio after an injury of some kind? No, we would applaud them for taking the initiative. Mental wellness, to my mind, is not different.
It’s normal to have questions when making such personal decision as choosing the right therapist for you. Why not contact me for a free 30-minute consultation? I’d be very pleased to answer your questions and so you can make an informed decision.
