ABOUT ME

My name is Caroline Penhale.

Ordained in the United Church of Canada, I have been coaching for over twenty years and have served as a minister for twelve years.

I have trained with Holmes Coaching and the Coaches Training Institute, and I am a member of the International Coaching Federation.

Prior to serving in pastoral ministry, I worked as a vocational counselor, helping my clients to discern a career path, conduct an effective job search and get hired.

My intention is for you to feel welcomed as you are, flaws, frustrations and all. I aim to provide a judgement free space where you can unburden, and reconnect with yourself and your source.

I am committed to you becoming clear about your current context and about where and how you would like things to be. Clarity lays the groundwork for what comes next.

What comes next is creation. Creating. You and I – together. In conversation, we create what’s next for you, in ways that might surprise you and hopefully, will bring you delight.

ABOUT YOU

You are a faith leader.
You are a pastor, a preacher, a priest, a deacon.
You’re on staff in a denominational office.
You lead a church board or serve in a seminary.

Regardless of your role, you are longing to experience more joy. More ease. More flow.
You are longing to engage in ways that are aligned with your values and with God’s call.
And yet, something’s off.

You’re tired – a lot.
You’re more irritable than you’d care to admit.
You’re questioning whether it’s time for a change: a change of call or a change of vocation.
Or you are wondering how you can serve more effectively and more joyfully.
Or you’ve realized you need help creating a sustainable approach, so that you can attend well to your most important relationships.

ABOUT COACHING

Coaching is co-active, and client driven.

The ICF “defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.

We all have goals we want to reach; challenges we’re striving to overcome and times when we feel stuck. Partnering with a coach can change your life, setting you on a path to greater personal and professional fulfillment.”

ABOUT COACHING WITH ME

Unlike most of psychotherapy, coaching is focused on the present and the future. With a particular quality of listening and questioning, I invite my clients to become clearer about how things are and articulate how they would like things to be. Then, together we create a plan to bridge that gap.

Coaching can address specific personal and professional goals, life balance, and ministry challenges. My purpose, as your coach, is to assist you in living a full and meaningful life while moving forward towards achieving your personal and ministry goals.

I also believe that your personal sense of spirituality is present in this coaching relationship which, in the most profound sense, makes this work that is sacred and holy.

As clergy and leaders in the local church, we’re aware of the change and challenge we’re experiencing in this unprecedented time. Through it all, Caroline’s steady coaching, guidance and encouragement have helped me manage the overwhelm and develop better coping skills. She is fully present and joyfully attentive in our time together. As a gifted listener she asks pointed questions, then offers practical strategies in pursuit of my goals. I’m grateful for her wisdom and grace as I’m gaining confidence and ability to be a better, more reflective, connected leader.

Reverend Shauna K. Ridge

Clergy Coaching with Caroline is truly one of my favorite hours of the month! Often, I’ll have no idea what I want to talk about, but after a few minutes spent with Caroline…with her insightful questions, her joy-filled way of connecting, her wonderings and ideas, I’m left with time that flies by and new ways to approach my family, my ministry, my life. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking to deepen their faith, strengthen their gifts, or rejuvenate their spirit. Thank you, Caroline for your passion and your presence. You are a gift to me!

Pastor Sarah Schaffer

Caroline just knows. I don’t know how she found her way into my head, heart and spirit as often as she did. She always seemed to have her finger right on the pulse of the issue. She’s a rare gem in this field of work, and I am a stronger minister and leader as a result of her accompaniment. Anyone who works with her will not regret it.
